A Meeting of the Patriarchal Commission on Clergy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Commences in Vienna
The annual meeting of the Patriarchal Commission on Clergy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church has begun at the Archeparchial Seminary in Vienna and will run from May 18 to 22, 2025.

The press service of the Patriarchal Commission on Clergy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) reported the event.
The meeting is being attended by rectors of UGCC seminaries from various countries who have gathered to discuss current pastoral issues and challenges related to the formation of future clergy.
Over the coming days, the commission members will focus on the following topics:
- the mission of the priest’s wife;
- the choice of future wives by seminarians;
- psychological evaluation of candidates at the time of admission to the seminary and in preparation for priestly ministry;
- the prayer rule in UGCC seminaries.
A special highlight of the gathering will be the celebration, together with the rectors, of the 250th anniversary of the first Greek Catholic seminary, the “Barbareum,” a significant historical institution for our Church.
The rector of the Archeparchial Seminary in Vienna, Dr. Richard Tatzreiter, welcomed the participants with an opening address, emphasizing the importance of joint reflection on the formation of future priests.
