Apostolic Nuncio Visits UGCC Cathedral in Kharkiv
On December 25, the Feast of the Nativity of Christ, the Pontifical Nuncio to Ukraine, Archbishop Visvaldas Kulbokas, visited the Cathedral of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker of the UGCC in Kharkiv. Wishing to experience Christmas in eastern Ukraine, in a city affected by war, the archbishop visited Kharkiv for the first time, as the press service of the Kharkiv Exarchate of the UGCC reports.
At the UGCC Cathedral, the Papal Nuncio sang carols, spoke with young people, and familiarized himself with the parish social ministry. Bishop Vasyl Tuchapets showed him the church premises, which serve as humanitarian warehouses during wartime, described how humanitarian aid is distributed weekly in the cathedral courtyard, and introduced the honored guest to the work of the Point of Invincibility.
Moreover, in the Roman Catholic Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the Pontifical Nuncio presided over a Christmas Mass concelebrated by Bishop Pavlo Honcharuk, Ordinary of the Diocese of Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia of the Roman Catholic Church, and Bishop Vasyl Tuchapets, Exarch of the UGCC of Kharkiv.
Archbishop Kulbokas also met with Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and visited areas of Kharkiv affected by Russian shelling.
