Bishop Mykola led the Liturgy in the Garrison Church in Lviv
Bishop Mykola Bychok, Eparch of Melbourne, began his visit to Ukraine with the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul in Lviv.
On Thursday, June 13, on the Feast of the Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ according to the New Julian calendar, Bishop Mykola Bychok, in the co-service of the parish priest of the church, Fr. Taras Mykhalchuk, and the chaplain priests, led the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy.
“Today it is a great honour for me to be in this holy church — the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. In the church, which has become a cradle of prayer, which envelops all our soldiers, heroes, heroines, prisoners, wounded, and all those who suffered from this terrible war,” Bishop Mykola began his homily.
The bishop reflected on the event of the Ascension of the Lord and the words of Jesus Christ to the disciples, “Peace be with you.” After all, after his Ascension, Christ did not leave us; he remains with us and strives to give us true peace — the peace of God. So, in conclusion, Bishop Mykola wished everyone present: “May Christ, who ascended to heaven, who assured us that I will not leave you orphans, that I will send you my Comforter Spirit, may He continue to lead our Church, lead our people to a just peace.”
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the parish priest of the Garrison Church of Sts. Peter and Paul, Fr. Taras Mykhalchuk, presented the Bishop with a panagia, asking him to remember the faithful and the clergy of the church in his prayers.
