Bishops, Clergy, and the Faithful Take Part in a Pilgrimage to Prylbychi
On July 29, the 161 st anniversary of Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky’s birth, a traditional pilgrimage took place in his hometown of Prylbychi, in the Lviv region. Bishops, clergy, monastics, and the faithful gathered at the Sheptytsky family estate to honor the memory of one of the most prominent leaders of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in prayer.
This was reported by the press office of the Lviv Archeparchy.
The prayer service began with Matins. Later, a Panakhyda was held in the Sheptytsky family crypt for the repose of the soul of Metropolitan Andrey and his family members.
The central event of the pilgrimage was the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, presided over by Archbishop and Metropolitan of Lviv Ihor Voznyak. Concelebrating with him were Archbishop and Metropolitan of Ivano-Frankivsk Volodymyr Viytyshyn; Bishop Vasyl Tuchapets, Exarch of Kharkiv; Auxiliary Bishop Volodymyr Hrutsa of the Lviv Archeparchy; Auxiliary Bishop Andriy Khimyak of the Kyiv Archeparchy; Bishop Emeritus Hlib Lonchyna; and numerous members of the clergy.
During the service, the faithful prayed for Ukraine, its defenders, a just peace, and the spiritual revival of the Ukrainian people.
Following the Divine Liturgy, a cultural program was held in Sheptytsky Park. The “Yavorivka” craft workshop, organized jointly with the Novoyavorivsk Local History Museum and the “Hostynets” public organization, was open to children and adults alike. The “SpivDiya” Society also presented a performance for the pilgrimage participants.
