Charity Event “Holy Supper” for Families of Fallen Defenders of Ukraine Hosted in Fastiv
During the Christmas holidays, the Knights of Columbus community in Ukraine organized dinners for the families of fallen heroes. A charity meal was held in Fastiv, Kyiv region, on January 5 at the initiative of the Knights of Columbus.
The communal meal in Fastiv began with a prayer for the victims, led by the parish priest, Father Vitaliy Martsyniuk.
According to Fr. Vitaliy, 134 soldiers in Fastiv gave their lives defending the independence and sovereignty of our country. For more than a year and a half, the community has been caring for the families of the fallen soldiers, offering moral and spiritual support and humanitarian aid, and helping them to cope with their great loss. The Knights of Columbus community is actively involved in this—26 Knights from the local community help to implement various charity events.
Representatives of the families of the fallen soldiers expressed their gratitude for the spiritual and humanitarian support and help in overcoming the heavy loss.
On the day of Epiphany, January 6, a similar event was held for the mothers of fallen soldiers in Kyiv. Before that, the Father and Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, presided over a Divine Liturgy. Afterward, everyone participated in a large water blessing on the banks of the Dnipro River. The meeting was attended by more than 50 relatives of the fallen defenders.
