Divine Liturgy at Plast Ski Camp: Fr. Volodymyr Radko Calls Youth to Gratitude and Prayer
From December 26 to December 31, 2025, Ukrainian Plast members from North America gathered at Pico Mountain, Vermont, for the annual ski camp organized by Burlaky, a Plast fraternity. The youth had the opportunity to learn and/or improve their skiing skills, meet new friends, and spend several days in a joyful atmosphere.
On Monday, December 29, Rev. Volodymyr Radko celebrated the Divine Liturgy for the camp. In his homily, he shared that “we have many things to be grateful for, and the Divine Liturgy is a prayer of thanksgiving, which is an important moment to do so.” In addition to giving thanks for Plast, the ski camp, its organizers, and new encounters, he noted that “during these days, we also give thanks for Christmas, when Jesus comes to be close to us, to become our friend.”
The homilist encouraged the youth to persevere in prayer, describing it as an encounter and the building of a friendship with the Lord. “Just as it takes time to make new friends at camp, the same is true with prayer—through prayer, we come to know Jesus and build our relationship with Him.” At the conclusion of the Liturgy, all those present sang the Christmas carol “Boh Predvichnyj” (“God Eternal”).
