With the blessing of Archbishop and Metropolitan of Przemyśl-Warsaw Yevhen Popovych, on Saturday, October 7, the UGCC Archeparchy of Przemyśl-Warsaw went on a pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Łagiewniki, near Krakow.

During the pilgrimage organized by the Archeparchy of Przemyśl-Warsaw to Łagiewniki, special prayers were offered for Ukraine and its defenders

It is not the first pilgrimage of Greek Catholics to the shrines of Poland. A year ago, at the level of the Warsaw-Lodz Deanery, pilgrims prayed in Czestochowa at the feet of the Blessed Virgin Mary at the miraculous icon of the Mother of God on the Jasna Gora. This time, in Łagiewniki, the faithful of the archdiocese prayed to the Merciful Jesus for peace and tranquility in Ukraine, especially for the Ukrainian military.

The prayer program of the pilgrimage began with the Divine Liturgy in the main church of the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy, led by Bishop Petro Kryk, the UGCC’s Bishop Emeritus. In his sermon, the bishop emphasized the importance of continued support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, helping refugees and victims in Ukraine, because “in this way, we show who we are — fresh or dry branches of the vine, which is the Lord.” The bishop offered several examples from Germany and the Scandinavian countries of how the local diaspora has mobilized to help Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

After the Divine Liturgy, the pilgrims delighted in the music of the parish choir from Krakow. Then, everyone gathered for a Moleben to the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Sanctuary of St. John Paul II, also located on the territory of the Łagiewniki.
