Head of the UGCC on the beatification of His Beatitude Lubomyr: We intend to commence such a process
The Father and Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, at the presentation of the book “Kobzar of Independent Ukraine. His Beatitude Sviatoslav about His Beatitude Lubomyr” on Tuesday, December 19, in Kyiv, noted that the UGCC intends to begin the beatification process of Patriarch Lubomyr Husar at the proper time and called for sharing information about the prayers heard through his intercession.
His Beatitude Sviatoslav said that the UGCC established the Foundation of His Beatitude Lubomyr. This foundation is a society of people trying to preserve and collect every gem that creates the greatness of his personality. Then, he thanked the members of the foundation’s supervisory board. He also reminded them that in the crypt of the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Kyiv, near the tomb of His Beatitude Lubomyr, there is a book in which people write down their prayers, requests to him, or even gratitude for help, for heard prayers. The history of this book begins during the funeral services when people stood in line for hours to say goodbye to the coffin. Then, a book was placed in the narthex of the Patriarchal Cathedral for recording. Since then, several such books have been filled with testimonies.

The Patriarch noted that such testimonies and memories of a person are signs of their sainthood. He added that, according to church law, when five years have passed since the death of a righteous person, and the adoration of his person does not diminish, there is a reason to open the process of beatification officially. “And we intend to do so,” said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.
“Don’t leave His Beatitude Lubomyr alone in the crypt! He’s still here, ready to change your life, just as he did when he was among us. Please keep us informed about the graces you receive — this will be crucial for advancing the beatification process. I truly believe that our Church and our people will have another saint one day. Let’s maintain that personal relationship with His Beatitude Lubomyr, who is now interceding in heaven for us, our Church, our nation, and each of us individually.”
