Head of UGCC congratulates Bishop Borys Gudziak on 25th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood
The Father and Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, personally and on behalf of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC, congratulated Bishop Borys Gudziak, Archbishop and Metropolitan of Philadelphia, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of his ordination as a priest.
“We thank the Lord for the gift of your life, your holy ministry, and for all the gifts He has so abundantly bestowed upon you and which you have generously multiplied,” reads the congratulatory letter.
With prayerful gratitude, His Beatitude Sviatoslav remembered Bishop Sophron Mudry, from whose hands Bishop Borys received the gift of the priesthood on November 26, 1998.
Addressing the Metropolitan of Philadelphia, the Head of the UGCC remarked, “Your faithful priestly ministry, combined with your dedicated work as the rector of the Ukrainian Catholic University, has prepared you to receive an even greater gift—the ordination of bishops. Through your efforts, you have nurtured the hearts of hundreds of young individuals with love for God, the Church, and their homeland. The gift of the priesthood has been the wellspring of inspiration for this commendable work.” His Beatitude Sviatoslav expressed sincere gratitude and commended Bishop Borys, asking the merciful Lord to reward him a hundredfold for his efforts.
“Please accept our wishes for abundant blessings from God and the assistance of the Holy Spirit in all your endeavors, for the glory of God and the well-being of our Church and homeland. May you have many and fruitful years,” the Primate expressed.
