His Beatitude Sviatoslav congratulates Ukrainians on Father’s Day
The Father and Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, congratulated men on Father’s Day, which Ukrainians celebrate every year on the third Sunday of June.
The Head of the UGCC emphasized the importance of every mature man discovering the gift of fatherhood.
“It is so important that every mature man realizes that he not only has to win the world for his wife and children. He must ‘conquer’ the heart of his family and open it to eternity,” His Beatitude Sviatoslav emphasized.
He emphasized the importance of every man being a true icon of the Heavenly Father for his children: “When we have a kind, loving father, it is easier for us to understand who God is for me.”
The Head of the Church called for a special prayer for fathers defending Ukraine at the front.
“Let us pray today for those fathers who show their parental love for their dearest ones by protecting their lives and fighting for the future of our Motherland on the battlefield,” he said.
While preaching during the Liturgy at the Kyiv Three Saints Theological Seminary, His Beatitude Sviatoslav drew attention to a special vocation and ministry — spiritual fatherhood.
“The vocation to spiritual parenthood is a unique meaning of the ministry of Christ’s priest,” said the head of the UGCC.
