His Beatitude Sviatoslav expressed his condolences regarding the helicopter crash in Brovary
“This morning, similarly to all citizens of our country, I was appalled by the tragic news about the helicopter crash in Brovary. It was heartbreaking to learn about the deaths of children, senior officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and peaceful residents of the city,” wrote His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Head of the UGCC, in his condolences addressed to state authorities, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, relatives, and loved ones of the deceased and wounded.
The Head of the UGCC noted that the tragedy occurred on the kindergarten’s territory, which is 200 meters from the parish of the Three Saints of the UGCC. The priests had just begun the divine service on the occasion of Epiphany Eve. The roar of a falling helicopter swept over their heads.
“I pray for the repose of all the dead. I accompany their relatives and friends in prayer and ask for the wounded’s healing. I want to be close to all those mothers and fathers who, on the sad morning of January 18, desperately ran around the scene of the tragedy, looking for their children,” said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.
“May the merciful Lord grant peace to all the dead and comfort all those who suffered,” urged the Head of the UGCC.
The State Emergency Service had previously stated that up to 14 people were killed. One child was killed on the ground and 11 other children were among 25 injured people.
