Interfaith National Prayer for Ukraine held in Bucha
On June 10, an interfaith prayer for Ukraine was held in the long-suffering city of Bucha. Bishops, pastors, and ministers of the leading Christian churches of Ukraine united in prayer for the military, volunteers, chaplains, children, and doctors for a just peace and defense of our country. Bishop Andriy Khimyak, Auxiliary Bishop of the Kyiv Archeparchy of the UGCC, represented the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church at the event.
The National Prayer for Ukraine began with a minute of silence to honor all those who died, after which representatives of religious denominations in Ukraine offered prayers for the various intentions of our suffering people.
Bishop Andriy Khimyak, Auxiliary Bishop of the Kyiv Archeparchy of the UGCC, spoke and prayed for comfort for the families of the victims, healing of their hearts, and help for the victims and those who suffered violence and torture.
“Today, when we are undergoing Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit into our lives, we feel this unity — unity in the prayer that we are performing today,” said Bishop Andriy Khimyak.
“We call for prayer and unity together with all the saints who are already in heaven, so that the Church in heaven and on earth may unite in a common plea to the Lord, to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit so that we may be liberated from Russian aggression and a just peace may come to our country,” Bishop Andriy Khimyak urged on.
