On Sunday, April 14, 2024, an Interfaith Prayer for Ukraine was held at the Royal Sonesta Washington, DC Capitol Hill Hotel as part of the Ukraine Action Summit, which took place in the nation’s capital from April 13 to April 16.
Evangelical pastors and other representatives led the attendees in prayer for Ukraine and the success of the Summit’s advocacy. Father Volodymyr Radko represented the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia at the event.
The prayer service was conducted in both Ukrainian and English. A worship group, consisting of representatives from various states, led the singing. Rev. Alexander Wroblicky from the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Saint Josaphat, Rev. Roman Kapran, president of the Ukrainian Convention in the U. S. and pastor in Philadelphia, and Pastor Serhiy Balyk from Washington State each spoke to the congregation.
Pastor Mykola Korsikov from Odesa and Serhii Haidarzhy, whose wife and 4-month-old son were killed in the Russian attack on Odesa on March 2, 2024, shared their testimonies. A minute of silence was observed to honor all victims of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
At the conclusion of the service, Rev. Volodymyr Radko led a joint prayer of ‘Our Father.’
After the service, Her Excellency Oksana Markarova, the Ukrainian Ambassador to the U. S., addressed those gathered for the Summit.
