“Let us unite to win”: His Beatitude Sviatoslav in Lublin
The unity of Ukrainians is a prerequisite for the credibility of their testimony. We see that if every Ukrainian spoke differently about the war in Ukraine, the world would not believe us. So, likewise, we need unity in the Holy Spirit to keep pure the faith that our forefathers passed on to us from the time of the baptism of St. Prince Volodymyr. Therefore, let us unite to win. Let us unite to pass on our faith to future generations.
The Father and Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, stated during the Liturgy celebrated on the Sunday of the Holy Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council at the parish of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the UGCC in Lublin, Poland.
The Archbishop then emphasized the unity of the apostles. If each of them had preached their way, the world would never have believed in the word of the Gospel they proclaimed.
The Primate emphasized that the Church is a conference, a gathering, an association of people—especially those who, due to life circumstances, have found themselves scattered among the nations. “And now, with my right hand from Lublin and my left hand from Wroclaw, I want to embrace the entire large Ukrainian community in Poland, to gather, convene and say to all of you: ‘Let’s unite!’. No matter how far life takes us from our native land, let us create one united community of Christ’s Church,” His Beatitude Sviatoslav called.
“Create a community of our Church and our people here, where you live today, but remember and pray for our homeland,” the patriarch instructed.
While staying in Lublin, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, together with Fr. Stepan Batrukh, prayed before the monument to Blessed Omelian Kovch, the pastor of Maidanek, for the priests and all Ukrainians who are currently in Russian captivity.
