New Caritas Premises Consecrated in Stryi
On November 28, in Stryi, Bishop Taras Senkiv consecrated the new home of Caritas Stryi Eparchy. The festive and important event in the history of Caritas Stryi was attended by directors of Caritas Ukraine branches who are currently participating in a working meeting, representatives of the authorities, and a large community of employees.
In 2 years, Caritas Stryi has developed and expanded from 7 to 58 members of the local team. Over the year, they provided about 40,000 services to people in need. Today, Caritas Stryi operates a Crisis Center for IDPs, a Child Friendly Space, 3 Houses for young people with disabilities, and a Center for Leisure and Social Adaptation for young people with mental and complex disabilities. They provide humanitarian, legal and psychological assistance to people from vulnerable categories. From now on, the team will have their own home where they can perform even more good. A donation from members of the U. S. Conference of Catholic Bishops made the purchase of the building feasible.
“Two years ago, we mapped out our dreams for the development of Caritas Stryi. And today we see how one of our dreams has become a reality! Caritas has undergone a transformation, and today, we are dedicating the space where our initiatives will gather greater momentum and significance. It is a celebration for the entire Caritas network, a great encouragement and a reminder to dream while fulfilling our mission. If we dream, we will be able to set ourselves goals, which we will pursue with God’s help, serving people in need,” said Tetiana Stavnycha, President of Caritas Ukraine, in her welcoming speech.
Addressing the audience, Bishop Taras emphasized the importance of always seeing the embodiment of God in those in need and taking care to be filled with ourselves. “To give something, you need to have something. I wish you to always be rich in Christ,” Bishop Taras wished.
