“Our Church Needs Your Prayers”: UGCC Head Congratulates Metropolitan Emeritus Ivan Martyniak on Triple Anniversary
The Father and Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, visited Metropolitan Emeritus of Przemyśl-Warsaw, Ivan Martyniak, in Przemyśl, Poland, to congratulate him on his triple anniversary: his 85th birthday, the 60th anniversary of his priestly ordination, and the 35th anniversary of his episcopal ordination.
“Today, the faithful of the Metropolitanate of Przemyśl-Warsaw—bishops, priests, consecrated persons, and laity—are rejoicing in the presence of a spiritual elder who prays for them. This is a gracious favor of God for them, and for you, dear bishop, an opportunity to minister to them out of your great treasures, which you have acquired through labor and prayer. Our Church, which is young in its priests, needs to be prayed for today, to be comforted with a kind word, to be supported with sound advice!” said His Beatitude Sviatoslav in his letter of congratulations.
He then wished that the Lord would multiply the years of Bishop Ivan’s life for this God-pleasing ministry.
“May you continue to be a beacon of God’s truth for our people and all the people among whom you live. May all the time that the Lord appoints for you be blessed and peaceful,” the Primate wished, giving his blessing.
