Over 90 Military Chaplains of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Participate in the Annual Retreat

This was reported by the press service of the Department of Military Chaplaincy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.

Each retreat session focused on a specific theme and was led by a different retreat leader. The first session was led by Fr. Bohdan Heleta, C.Ss.R., with the theme “On the Wondrous God.” The retreat leader focused on the search for true meaning behind outward forms, the unexpected nature of God’s action in human life, the challenges of spiritual maturity, and the biblical story of Eden as a key to understanding the human vocation.

The second session, on the topic “God’s Plan Within Me and I Within God’s Plan,” was led by Fr. Yuriy Kolisnyk, C.Ss.R. The chaplains reflected on discerning God’s call, spiritual rebirth, the need to draw strength continually from the Source, and seeking guidance in life in the light of God’s will.

The retreat leader for the third session was Fr. Marko Fedak, C.Ss.R. The retreat was held under the theme “Being Disciples of Christ and His Witnesses” and was dedicated to reflecting on the call to discipleship, bearing witness to the Gospel through daily ministry, sacrifice, and fidelity to Christ.

In addition to the retreat talks, during the Divine Liturgies military chaplains delivered homilies on the fruitfulness of life in God, the significance of miracles in the life of a believer, and the Eucharist as an offering of gratitude to the Lord.

Each session of the retreat was attended by Bishop Bohdan Manyshyn, head of the Department of Military Chaplaincy of the Patriarchal Curia of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. He spoke with the chaplains, thanked them for their selfless ministry among Ukrainian defenders, and offered his support for their pastoral mission.
