Patriarchal Catechetical Commission Invites to Gala Concert of Children’s Religious Song “Song of the Heart”
On December 15, 2024, the Lviv Theological Seminary of the Holy Spirit will host a gala concert featuring the winners of the All-Church Children’s Religious Song Contest, Song of the Heart. The event is organized by the Patriarchal Catechetical Commission.
This was reported on the official website of the Patriarchal Catechetical Commission.
Song of the Heart is an international competition of contemporary religious songs organized by the Patriarchal Catechetical Commission. Children aged 7 to 17 from Ukraine and abroad participated in the competition.
This year’s event was held under the slogan, “The Lord is my hope.”
The contest seeks to enhance the cultural and spiritual values of the Ukrainian people by promoting the composition and popularization of contemporary religious songs among Ukrainian Christians worldwide.
It is worth noting that on November 16, the qualifying stage of the patriarchal round of the International Contemporary Religious Song Contest, Song of the Heart, took place. On that day, nearly 80 participants—the winners of the diocesan selections—arrived from various regions of Ukraine to Lviv to perform their creative musical works.
The participants were assessed by a professional jury consisting of Taras Kurchyk, Honored Artist of Ukraine, singer and composer, deputy director of the Solomiya Krushelnytska Lviv National Opera and Ballet Theater, author and performer of the official anthem for the arrival of Pope John Paul II in Ukraine.
Jury members also included Maria Burmaka, People’s Artist of Ukraine, singer, songwriter, musician, social activist, philanthropist, PhD in philology, and Vasylyna Shyian, conductor, performer of church and traditional music, member of various musical choirs and bands: Strethenia, Eteria, Elayson, and Yosyfovych Rock Band.
All participants received certificates of participation and sweet treats.
The organizer of the competition, Mr. Nazar Duda, Deputy Chairman of the Patriarchal Catechetical Commission of the UGCC and Director of the Catechetical and Pedagogical Institute of the Ukrainian Catholic University, emphasized that “the primary goal of the competition has never been merely to honor the best performers, but to popularize devotional songs, educate children and youth in spiritual values, and help them discover spiritual harmony through music.”
