Renovated Buildings of Ukrainian Catholic University Consecrated in Lviv
The renovated building of the Ukrainian Catholic University was consecrated in Lviv at 17 I. Sventsitskoho Street. It was here that the Lviv Theological Academy resumed its activities in the 1990s, which later grew into the UCU.

The press service of UCU reported the event.
The renovation of the building took three years and included upgrading engineering networks, improving energy efficiency, and creating a barrier-free space. With the support of benefactors and partners, the building now features modern classrooms, a conference hall, a cafeteria, terraces, and works by Ukrainian artists.
The renovated building has become the main academic center of the university. It houses the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Faculty of Health Sciences, the newly created Faculty of Law with a Legal Clinic, as well as a number of institutes and centers. In total, more than 1,100 students will study there.
The main goal of the project was to make the building open and functional, provide barrier-free access, and restore its lost public functions. The architectural concept combined respect for historical heritage with modern needs.
A special place in the renovated building is reserved for the second floor, which was named after Patriarch Myroslav Ivan Cardinal Lubachivsky. It was he who initiated the restoration of the Lviv Theological Academy in 1993. A “Memorial Niche” with documents and speeches of His Beatitude was set up here.
During the ceremony, UCU President Bishop Borys Gudziak thanked everyone who contributed to the renovation: “It is a very touching moment to be back in this building, which has seen so much rethinking, care for people and creativity.”
UCU Rector Taras Dobko emphasized that the history of the university began in this very building: “The main ideas of UCU matured here, and the first students of the LTA studied here. Today, it is home to several faculties and a space for the development of the university community.”
