Stations of the Cross in Bucha Held in Commemoration of Innocent Victims of War

On March 1, 2025, in Bucha, Bishop Yosyf Milan, Protosyncellus of the Kyiv Archeparchy, led the Stations of the Cross in prayerful remembrance of the innocent victims of the war. The procession was attended by clergy of the Kyiv Archeparchy, seminarians of the Kyiv Three Saints Theological Seminary, monastics, and residents of the Kyiv region.

A solemn procession made its way down Yablunska Street to honor the memory of the victims of the Russian occupation who perished in March 2022. The participants paid tribute to the tortured territorial defense soldiers at 144 Yablunska Street, Agrobudpostach: Andriy Verbovy, Andriy Matviychuk, Andriy Dvornikov, Vitaliy Karpenko, Sviatoslav Turovsky, Anatoliy Prykhidko, Valeriy Kotenko, and Denys Rudenko.

Addressing the gathering, Bishop Yosyf Milan remarked: “Now, Bucha, Irpin, and other cities will be marked on the map of Ukraine with a special color—the color of bloody sacrifice. A color that will forever bear witness to the memory of future generations of Ukrainians, reminding them that innocent blood was shed here on the way of the cross to our Resurrection.”


“For over 30 years, Ukraine has been rising again. And those who crucified it—and continue to do so—are unworthy of sharing in this triumphant return from the tomb of oblivion and oppression,” the bishop emphasized. He continued: “We, as a free nation, as a people striving to live in an independent, sovereign, and free state, are fighting to rise again with the power of God and to glorify the Lord’s Name with dignity on this very land.”
