The All-Ukrainian Congress of Military Chaplains of the UGCC was convened for the 17th time

From November 28 to 30, the XVII All-Ukrainian Conference of Military Chaplains of the UGCC was held in the Transcarpathian region under the slogan “I earnestly seek you…” (Psalm 62:1). The three-day meeting of military chaplains is organized annually by the Department of Military Chaplaincy of the Patriarchal Curia of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, as it is reported by press service of the Department of Military Chaplaincy of the UGCC.

The primary goal of the event is the professional development of military chaplains of the UGCC, raising the level of knowledge and skills necessary for fruitful pastoral work among military personnel. About a hundred clergymen who provide spiritual care to Ukrainian military personnel gathered to discuss current challenges and prospects of chaplaincy ministry, share their experience, and outline an action plan for the following year.

The meeting began on Tuesday, November 28, with an opening ceremony, during which the head of the Military Chaplaincy Department, Bishop Mykhailo Koltun, welcomed the participants.

Deputy Head of the Department of Military Chaplaincy, Fr. Andriy Zelinsky, introduced the activities of the Department of Military Chaplaincy of the Patriarchal Curia of the UGCC in 2023. After the official part of the event, the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was presided over by Bishop Mykhailo in a concelebration with military chaplains.

On Wednesday, November 29, an online meeting of military chaplains with His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Father and Head of the UGCC, took place. During the conference, the Primate emphasized the importance of our chaplains’ mission in the Ukrainian army today and expressed his sincere gratitude to them.
