“The civilization choice of Prince Volodymyr is a choice that we must remember, celebrate and live by today”, His Beatitude Sviatoslav
Our Church today urges the faithful to renew their baptismal vows. It means renouncing Satan and his worship and promising to live together with Christ. It means to be free — free from evil and free to do good. This is the civilization choice of St. Prince Volodymyr. His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Father and Head of the UGCC, said on the Day of Commemoration of Prince Volodymyr, the Day of the Baptism of Rus-Ukraine, and the Day of Ukrainian Statehood on the air of United News telethon.
His Beatitude Sviatoslav noted that the three feasts we celebrate today complement each other. The Ukrainian people remember their baptizer and their personal choice of baptism. According to the Primate, baptism means a person’s entry into the sacrament of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
“A nation that believes in the resurrection expands its horizons, knows how to conquer death, and these eternal values become the essence of its modernity. This is the point of the celebration of the baptism of Rus-Ukraine,” said the Head of the Church, “And statehood under martial law, which we are fighting for at the cost of our lives and the blood of our troops, is something that requires the ability to see the future, to see that the power of God, as Paul says, sometimes is made perfect even in our weaknesses. We are now in a position to win by the power of the risen Savior. The civilization choice of Prince Volodymyr is the choice that we must remember, celebrate, and live by today.”
Before that, the Head of the UGCC, together with representatives of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations, had taken part in an event on the occasion of the Day of Ukrainian Statehood, which was held on Mykhailivska Square in Kyiv with the participation of representatives of the state authorities.
