On September 30, the Father and Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, issued a decree by which he merged the Commission on Pastoral Care for Sobriety of the Kyiv-Halytskyi Supreme Archdiocese of the UGCC with the Commission of the UGCC for Health Care.

The Commission on Pastoral Care for Sobriety was merged with the Commission of the UGCC on Pastoral Health

Our glorious predecessor of bright memory, Blessed Lubomyr, understanding the importance of educating the faithful to a sober lifestyle and the need to help addicted persons and their families, by decree of September 28, 2006, created a subcommittee called “For Sobriety of Life,” which was part of the Commission of the UGCC for Health Care”, stated in the decree.

Therefore, on July 10, 2019, it was reorganized into the Sobriety Pastoral Commission. Because of the reorganization of the Patriarchal Curia, both commissions are now united by the decision of His Beatitude Sviatoslav and the advice of Bishop Kenneth Nowakowski.

Sister Sevastiana Karvatska, OSBM, was appointed head of the Commission of the UGCC for Health Care for three years. Handing over the appointment decree, His Beatitude Sviatoslav personally thanked Sister Sevastiana and the entire Commission of the Commission of the UGCC for Health Care for their excellent service.
