The Diocese of St. Josaphat in Parma in the United States celebrates the 40th anniversary of its foundation
Based in Parma, USA, the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of St. Josaphat recently celebrated its 40th anniversary. It was founded by St. Pope John Paul II on December 5, 1983. On this occasion, Bishop Bohdan Danylo, fathers, sisters, and laity were greeted by the Father and Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav.
The Patriarch noted that owing to the eparchy, which has been gathering Ukrainians for almost half a century, our Church has been preserved and is developing in the United States. “It has consolidated its faithful, supported them on their way to God, taught them love for their motherland and traditions,” the Head of the UGCC said in his greeting letter.
“Our entire Church celebrates with you, remembering the diocesan founders, those who are already standing before the Lord’s throne, especially Bishop Robert Moskal, who put a lot of effort into its development, and expressing our recognition and deep prayerful gratitude to them,” the Primate wrote and added: — “May God, full of mercy, strengthen you and send you His abundant graces through the prayers of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Josaphat, under whose special care I entrust every one of you. May you continue to be bright lamps of God’s truth for our people and for all the people among whom you live and serve.”
