On Tuesday, 3 March, the Eparchial Forum on the theme “Implementation of the Resolutions of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC, 2025” took place in the Melbourne Eparchy.

The Eparchial Forum was held in the Melbourne Eparchy

The forum was held on the Zoom platform, given that the territory of the Melbourne Eparchy is very large and its parishes are located at significant distances from one another. The clergy of the Melbourne Eparchy and members of the Eparchial Pastoral Council took part in the forum.

The forum began with a prayer led by Bishop Mykola Cardinal Bychok, Eparch of Melbourne. He emphasised that this event is one of the stages of preparation for the Church-wide Forum, which will take place in the UGCC in October 2026.

Participants heard a report from the Head of the Eparchial Pastoral Council, Fr Andriy Mykytyuk, regarding the activities of the Council as well as the implementation of the resolutions of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC at the eparchial level. The Eparchy’s representative to the Pastoral Council of the Patriarchal Curia of the UGCC, Fr Zenon Racki, presented on his work within that Council. Fr Zenon also spoke about the main goals and objectives of the UGCC Pastoral Plan 2030, “Hope to which the Lord calls us”, giving particular attention to the theme of the family — “The Christian family is a home church” — and outlined what has already been implemented from this plan within the Melbourne Eparchy.

Each parish administrator presented a report on the implementation of the resolutions of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC 2025 at the parish level. In their reports, the priests focused on two aspects: which decisions of the Synod have been successfully implemented at the parish level and which decisions are difficult or impossible to implement due to the realities of our parishes.

At the conclusion of the forum, participants had the opportunity to ask questions and share their reflections and observations. Bishop Mykola thanked everyone for their participation and expressed his gratitude to the priests for their prepared reports. He emphasised that, despite the challenging realities facing our Church in Australia, we strive to do all that is possible to sow the good seed of God’s Word.
