Episcopal ordination of Fr. Mykola Semenyshyn, as the auxiliary bishop of the Ivano-Frankivsk Archeparchy of the UGCC, will take place on February 15, 2023, in the cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Ivano-Frankivsk. The Divine Liturgy will start at 11:00. According to the Julian calendar, on this day the Church will celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus Christ.

Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, will preside at the Liturgy and will be the main consecrator. Archbishop and Metropolitan of Ivano-Frankivsk Volodymyr Viytyshyn and Bishop Bohdan Dziurach, Apostolic Exarch in Germany and Scandinavia, will be co-consecrators.

The day before, February 14, at 5:00 p.m. the Great Vespers with the Rite of Episcopal Nomination will start. “Zhyve TV” will broadcast these events.

On October 27, the Vatican announced that the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC has elected Father Mykola Semenyshyn as an auxiliary bishop of the Ivano-Frankivsk Archeparchy of the UGCC. Pope Francis confirmed this decision and appointed him the titular seat of Iunca in Mauretania.

Biography

Fr Mykola was born May 29, 1982, in the village of Hlyboke, Bohorodchany district, Ivano-Frankivsk region.

From 1999 to 2005, he studied at the Ivano-Frankivsk Theological Academy. From 2005 to 2008, he studied theology and spirituality at Teresianum — Pontifical Theological Faculty in Rome at the department of Spiritual Theology.

He received diaconal ordination on November 25, 2004, and priestly ordination on May 29, 2005.

On April 8, 2008, he was appointed administrator of the parish of St. Michael in Porte (Diocese of Pinerolo, Italy). On October 19, 2009, he was appointed as an assistant to the pastor of the parish of St. Verano in Abbadia Alpina in the same diocese.

On October 11, 2011, he was appointed vice-rector of the Ivano-Frankivsk Theological Seminary.

On August 1, 2013, he became the personal secretary of His Beatitude Lubomyr Husar. He served in this position until the Patriarch’s repose in 2017.

Since September 1, 2017, he has been a confessor at the Three Holy Hierarchs Major Seminary in Kyiv
