The meeting of the international group “Reconciliation in Europe — the task of the Churches in Ukraine, Belarus, Poland, and Germany” is taking place in Warsaw
On September 19, on the premises of the Polish Ecumenical Council in Warsaw (Poland), the international working meeting “Reconciliation in Europe — the task of the Churches in Ukraine, Belarus, Poland and Germany” began its work, which will last until September 21.
The main topic of discussion is the unjust war and the military invasion Russia has committed against Ukraine.
Within the framework of the meeting, Fr. Ihor Shaban, head of the UGCC Commission for the Promotion of Christian Unity, who, with the blessing of His Beatitude Sviatoslav, is participating in this conference. The priest, in particular, talked about the current situation in Ukraine and the service the Church provides to people who are forced to flee from the Russian aggressor and the war, saving themselves and their relatives from death and destruction. Fr. Ihor also thanked the participants of the meeting from Poland and Germany for the prayer for Ukraine, which is offered by European Christians and is a source of optimism and hope for Ukrainians that together we will defeat evil and peace would bless our Motherland.

The working group “Reconciliation” has been operating since 1996. Its members include representatives of the Churches of Germany, Poland, Belarus, and Ukraine. The purpose of the group is to discuss the current problems of our time and the possible contribution of the Churches to solving these problems.
