The Synod of Bishops Congratulates This Year’s Jubilees
During the Synod of Bishops of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, which has been taking place in Rome, Italy, since September 3, this year’s jubilees were congratulated.
The Evening of Anniversaries is a long-standing tradition of each meeting of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC. It is an opportunity to congratulate and thank for their ministering those Bishops and staff members of the Secretariat for the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC who will be celebrating an anniversary during the year: the anniversary of their birth, the anniversary of their priestly ordination or the anniversary of their episcopal ordination.
This year, 23 members of the Synod and 8 members of the Secretariat celebrated their anniversaries. In particular, Bishop Emeritus Petro Stasiuk celebrates his 80th birthday.
Some bishops have the opportunity to celebrate two anniversaries this year. For example, Bishop Yaroslav Pryriz, Bishop of Sambir-Drohobych, celebrates his 65th birthday and 35 years of priesthood, and Bishop Petro Holiney, Auxiliary Bishop of Kolomyia, celebrates his 50th birthday and 25 years of priesthood.
The priests who are members of the Secretariat of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC were also congratulated.
The jubilee evening was held at the Pontifical Ukrainian College of St. Josaphat, where this year’s Synod of Bishops of the UGCC is being held.
