Ukrainian Cathedral Choir in Munich celebrates 30th anniversary

The Father and Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, awarded the choir director Vasyl Zakopets and all its members a Patriarchal letter of commendation. “We highly appreciate your participation in charity concerts in support of Ukraine, which is enduring the hardships of war. Appreciating your commitment to God’s glory and the good of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and your significant contribution to the development and popularization of Ukrainian spirituality and culture among residents, we express our heartfelt gratitude, recognition, and praise,” the letter reads.

All choir members received personalized certificates of appreciation from Apostolic Exarch Bishop Bohdan Dziurakh.

The celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Pokrov Choir began with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos, presided over by Bishop Bohdan.

In his pastoral message, Bishop Bohdan emphasized the importance of each person’s gifts, which we are called to bestow on others and glorify the Lord with them. “By giving a little of ourselves, we receive a remarkably large amount in the community of the Church,” he said.

“We are happy to rejoice in your gifts and talents, which you have discovered and placed at the service of God, the Church, and people. And today we are immensely grateful to you for this, and together with you, we bring this gratitude to the throne of the Almighty,” the Apostolic Exarch thanked the choir.

The bishop also called on the singers to unite and strengthen the spirit of brotherhood, the spirit of true Christian love, so that they would testify to the wealth of Ukrainian culture and, above all, the genuine Christian faith.
