Ukrainians in Argentina Pray for Peace in Ukraine During Pilgrimage to Luján

This was reported by the press service of the Eparchy of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Buenos Aires.

The hierarchical Divine Liturgy in the basilica was presided over by Bishop Daniel Kozelinski, concelebrated by priests of the eparchy and Deacon Nabil Kassis. The choir of the Theological Seminary of Blessed Omelyan Kovch provided musical accompaniment. Basilian Sisters and representatives of youth cultural organizations from the Ukrainian community also participated in the pilgrimage. A particular joy for the community was the visit of Basilian Sisters from Ukraine to Argentina.

In his sermon, Bishop Daniel emphasized the importance of personal spiritual pilgrimage, urging the faithful to deepen their spiritual preparation for the glorious Resurrection of the Lord and to be strengthened in faith and hope.

After the Liturgy, the clergy and faithful proceeded to the crypt of the Cathedral of Luján, where they held a prayer service before the icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary Oranta.

A highlight of this year’s event was a walking pilgrimage organized by Ukrainian youth, led by two Argentine veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war, Ezequiel Montero Benitez and Adrian Monserrat. Young people, priests, and seminarians undertook the prayer procession, covering more than 40 kilometers under the slogan “For Peace in Ukraine.” Throughout the journey, prayers, spiritual reflections, and hymns strengthened participants in their faith and unity.

The pilgrimage concluded with a communal prayer before the miraculous statue of Our Lady of Luján, the patron saint of Argentina. The faithful offered prayers for peace, victory, and blessings for Ukraine, ending the spiritual event with the hymn “God, Great and One.”
