At a Hospital in the Carpathian Region, the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Visited Wounded Defenders of Ukraine
On September 15, as part of his visit to the Carpathian region, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, visited Ukrainian defenders who are undergoing rehabilitation at one of the local military hospitals.
This was reported by the Information Department of the Ivano-Frankivsk Archeparchy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
The visit began with a joint prayer. In the hospital chapel, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, together with the medical staff, prayed earnestly for Ukraine, with the words of “God, Great and One,” asking for peace and God’s blessing for our country and its defenders.
Afterward, the Head of the Church, accompanied by Archbishop and Metropolitan Volodymyr Viytyshyn of Ivano-Frankivsk, was met by Lieutenant Colonel of the Medical Service Yevhen-Roman Lishchynskyi, along with military chaplain Fr. Roman Vynnychuk and Medical Chaplain Fr. Bohdan Svystiuk, who invited the clergy to tour the facility’s wards. They visited the hospital wards where Ukrainian soldiers—who were wounded in the combat zone and are now on the road to recovery—are receiving treatment and undergoing rehabilitation.
The clergy visited the wards, the rehabilitation unit, and the occupational therapy room. His Beatitude Sviatoslav personally spoke with the soldiers and gave each one his blessing. The Head of the UGCC sincerely thanked the soldiers for their selfless service, resilience, and defense of the Motherland, and wished them a speedy recovery.
Separately, the Head of the UGCC expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and rehabilitation specialists for their tireless daily work and for the kindness, warmth, and love with which they care for the wounded soldiers.
At the conclusion of the visit, the hospital administration thanked the Primate of the UGCC for his visit to the facility and for his constant spiritual care for the Ukrainian military. As a token of prayerful remembrance and gratitude, His Beatitude Sviatoslav was presented with a Ukrainian flag, as well as a painting by the renowned artist Nikita Titov. The Primate assured all those present of his constant prayers for their health and for Ukraine’s swiftest possible victory.
