“Buy Jam — Build a Church” Initiative: Lutsk Exarchate Consecrates Foundation of UGCC Church
On December 17, Bishop Josaphat Hovera, Exarch of Lutsk, during a pastoral visit, consecrated the foundation for the Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Stara Vyzhivka in Volyn, the construction of which was funded through social networks and the sale of blueberry jam, as it is stated at the website of the Lutsk Exarchate of the UGCC.
In his words, Bishop Josaphat underscored the importance of entrusting our life to God’s will and His providence, citing the story of Joseph, who was sold into slavery by his brothers. Joseph relies on God for everything, and for this, the Lord turns his suffering into joy!
“The construction of a temple is a difficult yet noble cause for which God bestows His blessing,” the preacher emphasized.
After the Liturgy, certificates were presented for active service in the development of the parish.
Then the bishop, in concelebration with the priests of the Exarchate, consecrated the foundation of the future church and laid a capsule with a foundation charter, a brief history of the parish, and a list of donors.
It is worth noting that funds for the construction of the foundation were solicited through social media and the sale of blueberry jam as part of the Buy Jam — Build a Church initiative. Father Volodymyr Ulyan expressed gratitude to all known and unknown donors and assured that he would pray for the benefactors together with the community.
