Cardinal Christoph Schönborn to participate in prayer as part of the Rosary Unites initiative
On Wednesday, April 5, Cardinal Christoph Schönborn, Archbishop of Vienna, will join the evening rosary prayer for peace in Ukraine. The Cardinal, as the Ordinary of the faithful of the Eastern Catholic Churches in Austria, will pray the rosary live on Zhyve TV at 8:00 PM as part of the initiative “The Rosary Unites.” In addition, the prayer will be simultaneously broadcast on the YouTube channel of the Archdiocese of Vienna.
Father Yuriy Kolasa, Vicar General of the Eastern Catholic Churches in Vienna, in a commentary for the Information Department of the UGCC, spoke about the appeal of the Austrian bishops, who, on the occasion of their recent plenary assembly called on the faithful of their dioceses to pray the rosary for Ukraine.
“Since the beginning of the war, many people in Ukraine have been praying the rosary every day at 8:00 PM (local time). We invite parishes, communities, families, and the faithful to join this prayer. In the history of our country, we have frequently experienced the power of common prayer. After the Second World War, hundreds of thousands of people prayed the rosary for the freedom and sovereignty of Austria. They made sure that nothing is impossible for God,” the Catholic bishops of Austria stated.
Father Yuriy Kolasa expressed hope that on Wednesday, many Austrians will join the prayer of the Archbishop of Vienna. “This prayer is close to them, and they have a historical memory of the power of prayer on the rosary,” said Fr. Yuriy.
We invite you to take part in a common prayer that will be held in Ukrainian and German.
