This was reported by the press service of the Kharkiv Exarchate.

Although Izyum has been de-occupied for more than two years, the city remains under constant threat of shelling and bombing. According to parish administrator Fr. Petro Maika, about ten guided bombs fell near the chapel that day. “On that day, ten guided bombs fell near our chapel. In fact, there were strikes from all sides,” the priest said.

Although there were no direct hits on the building, the chapel sustained significant damage: windows were smashed, doors were damaged, and a crater was formed in the courtyard as a result of the explosion.

Despite the high level of danger, Fr. Petro Maika remains with his community and continues his pastoral ministry. “The renovation of the chapel was recently completed, and the conditions for ministry have improved. Although the shelling caused damage, prayer continues. People need the presence of a priest and his support,” he emphasized.
