Child Baptized in Frontline Kherson on the Eve of Epiphany
In Kherson, at the parish of St. Volodymyr the Great of the Basilian Fathers, despite constant shelling by Russian forces, the rector, Fr. Ignatius Moskalyuk, OSBM, administered the Sacrament of Baptism to a boy named Nazar.
As reported on the Facebook page of the Basilian Fathers, the child was born in Odesa, where his parents were forced to move in search of a safer place to live. However, the family did not give up hope of baptizing their son in their native Kherson.
“Today, that dream came true. Nazar became the beloved child of God the Father, and together with his family, we rejoice and celebrate the blessing of this day. May his guardian angel always accompany him, and may his heart be filled with light, goodwill, and love. Perhaps in the future, Nazar will choose his path in life and become a priest, bringing the light of faith and hope to other people,” said Father Ignatius, the rector of the parish.
