Today, Russian criminals come to Ukraine to either kill or be killed. What an evil eye those who attacked our country are now looking at it and the world, stated the Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, during a sermon on the 3 rd Sunday after the Descent of the Holy Spirit.

Hearing God’s word about light while preaching Jesus’s Sermon on the Mount, we understand that the radiance of God’s face was, in a way, the moment when all good for man and the whole world comes from the source, which is God.

“The one who is in the light, who carries the light of God, who has access to the source of light, feels more confident than the birds of the air, whom God feeds, feels full of beauty than the lilies whom God clothes,” the preacher emphasized. — “Only the one who has the light of God’s blessing in them, who views everything around with a bright eye, and that light makes their eyes bright from within, only the person who has a connection to the source of life can share that life, can give any good to everyone around them. A person who appreciates the blessings bestowed upon them by the Lord God, like Adam in paradise, is capable of building, restoring, and radiating through their life, selflessly sharing it with others.”

His Beatitude Sviatoslav said that in the modern world, which is often called a consumer society; unfortunately, the human eye is fading, seeking to take as much as possible and give as little as possible. “A person who cannot give anything is a person who lives in darkness and spreads darkness around him. For a person with an evil eye, everything will always be too scarce, and what he has will never satisfy him,” the preacher said.

The Head of the UGCC noted that today in Ukraine, we see the evil eye of the Russian criminal who comes to our land to rob and kill: “Wherever the Russian occupier sets foot, everything is destroyed, devastated, plunged into darkness. The occupier himself feels that no one needs him as a bearer of darkness. Commanders do not consider their subordinates to be human beings and do not respect their lives. Thus, they feel that their weapons may be more valuable to the Russian authorities than the life of the soldier to whom they are given.”

It was the dark eye of the Russian occupier, according to His Beatitude Sviatoslav, that caused the Russian aggression against Ukraine. Therefore, the causes of this war should not be sought elsewhere.

“Many dark politicians are thinking about the cause of this war: What if someone provoked it? Maybe the reason is to satisfy the aggressor at the cost of Ukraine. Maybe Ukraine or the world did not recognize the ‘interests of their security,’” said the Head of the UGCC and added: “We can ask ourselves: ‘When will the thief with the evil eye feel safe?’ Today, God’s word answers us: Never! Nothing will ever give the one who lives in the darkness of consumer lust a sense of security: neither international law nor even his ability to defend himself. He will feel safe only when he has the opportunity to destroy and exploit the world endlessly! He looks at the world with an evil eye and, being evil, is in himself a disaster for humanity!”

“The real origin of this disaster, which is now spreading from Russia to the whole world, is the evil eye of the Russian invader, the eye of a man, the eye of a people who have plunged into darkness, who want to live at the cost of the lives of others, at the cost of the property of others — to be rich, at the cost of humiliating the dignity of others — to feel important, worthy and dignified,” emphasized His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

The Head of the UGCC noted that only with the bright eye of love and seeing the world with it can we defeat this darkness that the enemy brings to our land. Only with a bright eye can we defend and rebuild our homeland, giving ourselves to God and our neighbor without fear!
