Head of the UGCC Names Fr. Wayne Ruchgy a Mitred Archpriest
His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, has named Fr. Wayne Joseph Ruchgy, Ph. D., pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Dearborn, Michigan, a Mitred Archpriest. The mitre was presented to him by Bishop Benedict Aleksiychuk of the St. Nicholas Eparchy in Chicago.
In his decree, His Beatitude expressed his deep appreciation for Fr. Wayne’s dedicated service for the glory of God and the good of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. He especially recognized Fr. Wayne’s 60 years of priestly ministry to the faithful of the St. Nicholas Eparchy in Chicago, a service that has borne abundant spiritual fruit.
“Your example as a faithful priest of Christ has inspired many people and helped form generations of believers. We also wish to acknowledge your contribution to the growth of the Eparchy through your service as Protosyncellus, your work on various eparchial commissions, your support in establishing and developing the Eparchy’s Pension Fund, your efforts in preparing new guidelines for the Presbyteral Council, and your professional ministry as a Doctor of Psychology to those in need of help. For all of this, we offer you our heartfelt gratitude, recognition, and praise,” the decree states.

After consulting Bishop Benedict Aleksiychuk, Eparch of the St. Nicholas Eparchy in Chicago, and considering Fr. Wayne’s many accomplishments and the respect he enjoys among those he serves, His Beatitude Sviatoslav granted him the right to wear the mitre.

“May the merciful Lord richly reward you with His gifts, granting you strength and inspiration to live in holiness and love for Him, and to continue your devoted service for the glory of God and the good of His people,” the Head of the Church wrote.
