Head of UGCC Consecrates Priest and Deacon for Sevice in Odesa Exarchate
On February 4, during the Liturgy dedicated to the All-Church Monastic Pilgrimage to the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Kyiv, the Father and Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, ordained Deacon Taras Mykytych and Subdeacon Mykhailo Moskaliuk, graduates of the Kyiv Three Saints Theological Seminary, who will perform their pastoral ministry in the Odesa Exarchate, the press service of the Odesa Exarchate of the UGCC reports.
In his pastoral address to the newly ordained Father Taras and Deacon Mykhailo, the Primate congratulated the clergy and reminded them of three daily practices that will help a priest to persevere in his spiritual struggle: The Eucharist, the prayer of the church rule, and listening to and reading the Holy Scriptures. “If you adhere to these daily practices, rest assured that you will be not just successful priests but invincible fighters on this spiritual front,” the Head of the UGCC emphasized.
“At the conclusion of the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, representing the monastics and clergy, the chairman of the Patriarchal Commission for Monastic Affairs and Exarch of Odesa, Bishop Mykhailo Bubniy, expressed heartfelt gratitude to His Beatitude Sviatoslav: ‘Your Beatitude, our Patriarch, allow me to extend our sincerest thanks for your holy hands, which have blessed the Exarchate of Odesa with a priest and a deacon. We are grateful for the exemplary model of your ministry and your courageous pastoral leadership. Since the onset of the war, the Word of God spoken by you has guided us through the arduous struggle against Russian aggression. We thank you for the spiritual word you provide to your afflicted people.’”
The clergy, consecrated persons, and faithful of the Odesa Exarchate extend sincere congratulations to the newly ordained presbyter and deacon on their ordination.
