The Father and Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, spoke about what truly changes the mindset of people in Ukraine, transforming the whole country. He made these remarks on May 22 in Munich during a meeting of the Permanent Synod of the UGCC with public and volunteer organizations in Germany.

«We managed to come to you because courageous soldiers are holding back the enemy offensive at the cost of their own lives. And they are the ones who change peoples’ mindset,» the Head of the UGCC emphasized.
«Prior to the full-scale invasion, the coffins of our heroes who gave their lives for the freedom of Ukraine were mostly in the West of Ukraine. Today, when they, our heroes, return in coffins to their towns and villages in Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy regions, they are met on their knees and given a burial in their native land,» said the Primate, adding: «Even after their death, they change people’s consciousness.»
His Beatitude Sviatoslav informed that all the delegations that come to Ukraine from abroad today visit military cemeteries: «When they see a cemetery with hundreds of Ukrainian flags flying over the graves of young men and women and see tears on the faces of their loved ones, it changes their minds. This is one of the realities that is transforming Ukraine.»
According to the Head of the Church, the hero who gave his life for Ukraine continues to preach with his body when he returns home. Therefore, we will never be the country we used to be: «There has been a distinct re-identification: who is friend and who is foe. And that land, even those villages on the border with Russia, will never be the same again.»
«The tombs of the heroes of Ukraine, which cover our entire land, are a hallmark of our identity,» said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.
