His Beatitude Sviatoslav congratulated the President of the Ukrainian World Congress on his new term
His Beatitude Sviatoslav congratulated the re-elected President of the Ukrainian World Congress, Mr. Paul Grod, and the new Board of Directors, who, according to the decision of the XII Congress, will chair the UWC for the next four years.
Meeting of His Beatitude Sviatoslav with the leadership of the Ukrainian World Congress in Kyiv, August 22, 2021
The XII UWC Congress was convened on Sunday, October 22. One of the pivotal issues on the agenda was the election of a new leadership. The Congress was attended by approximately 300 delegates and guests from 30 countries. It resulted in the re-election of Mr. Pavlo Grod, who has led the UWC for the past five years, as President, and the election of a new Board of Directors.
“The time of your government was not easy because it was marked by the coronavirus pandemic and the full-scale war that Russia waged against Ukraine,” His Beatitude Sviatoslav wrote in a letter.
The Head of the Church noted that the election for another term is evidence of great trust. “The tasks that you face are crystallized by the circumstances of the war — saving those who suffer, rebuilding what has been destroyed, and steadfastly preserving and enriching the Ukrainian identity. I wish you strength and inspiration for your next term. I truly believe the experience gained will enable you to organize your work wisely. As has happened in history, Ukraine has found itself in the crucible of trials, so today, every word in its defense can save it along with weapons,” said the Patriarch.
Then he assured Mr. Pavlo that he would always be open to all initiatives aimed at the welfare of our people and bestowed his blessing: “I ask the Holy Spirit to empower you and your team, enabling you to serve the people of Ukraine with honor. As a sign of God’s abundant blessings, I bestow upon you the bishop’s blessing!”
