If you want to bring victory closer, turn off the extra lighting, — the Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav

The energy system of Ukraine is currently Russia’s No. 1 target: the terrorist state, which was unable to achieve its goal by military means, is trying to provoke unnatural disasters in Ukraine.

If you want to bring victory closer, turn off the extra lighting, — the Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav

The Father and Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, talks about the importance of frugal electricity consumption, the need for cost-saving measures, and the price that Ukrainian energy workers pay for us to have what we have.

The Head of the UGCC has just returned from a big trip to South Ukraine: among the cities visited by the clergy was Yuzhnoukrainsk, where the Yuzhnoukrainsk NPP is located.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav mentions the Zaporizhzhia NPP, captured by the Russian invaders. Some of its employees, who managed to leave, are now working at the South Ukrainian NPP, and those who remained at the ZNPP daily protect Ukraine from the danger of an accident at the nuclear plant.

«I heard very dramatic testimonies about the fate, in particular, of nuclear power workers in Ukraine. Those who managed to leave the Zaporizhzhia NPP talk about terrible things. The ZNPP is really on the verge of an unnatural disaster. Every day, the employees of this NPP go to work and are still determining if they will return home. There are systematic abductions of these specialists and all kinds of humiliation. Nevertheless, these people heroically protect Ukraine from the danger of turning a „peaceful atom“ into an atomic weapon. Well, we were all appalled by the statement of the Russian general, who threatened to blow up the nuclear power plant, saying that it would be either Russian territory or an atomic desert.»

Today, these two Ukrainian NPPs — Zaporizhzhia and Yuzhnoukrainsk — are connected technically and on a particular human level.

«We can say that working at a power plant, servicing thermal power plants and supply networks mean being at the forefront of another critically important front. We saw how the Russians methodically destroyed this Ukrainian infrastructure with missiles, and today many professionals in this field give their lives, and many have died in recent weeks», the Head of the Church proceeded.

This is the price that Ukraine pays for energy and national security. Therefore, compliance with measures aimed at general saving consumption is a small contribution every citizen of Ukraine can and should make.

«Let us help those who ensure our life, safety, and livelihood! Let’s help our energy workers to save our Motherland, — His Beatitude Sviatoslav appeals to Ukrainians. — Because when there is a request to us to save electricity, to endure temporary power shortages, these are all measures to stabilize the energy system of Ukraine. Therefore, let us help our Motherland resist energy terrorism. And everyone can efficiently contribute to this. Turn off the extra lighting if you want to bring victory closer. If you want to support the Armed Forces, be patient when you feel cold or feel less comfortable with electrical appliances. Sacrifice something to win. In the circumstances that we are experiencing today, this awareness of personal responsibility and the opportunity to do great things through small things should be another motivator of our civic duty. Irresponsibility is destructive. If we are irresponsible in our civic duties, we are helping the enemy. We will do everything to make it our responsibility to defeat the Russian terrorist because these attacks on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine are nothing but war crimes. It violates humanitarian law, customs, and rules of warfare. We hope these crimes will be recorded and condemned by the world, and the criminals will be identified, named, and punished.»
