In times of war, prayer is the strength of our people and Church: His Beatitude Sviatoslav on the 64th week of the war

If millions of people in a nation are praying, then there is no need to worry about the future of that nation. We must stop, put everything aside and stand for prayer every day at 8:00 PM Kyiv time. If you are on the road, at the front, in a bomb shelter, pray at least the Our Father and the Hail Mary. And if you have the opportunity, join the online rosary that unites. His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, said this on the 64th week of the full-scale war.

In times of war, prayer is the strength of our people and Church: His Beatitude Sviatoslav on the 64th week of the war

“Today, we must all remember that, unfortunately, the war continues… Therefore, we must pull together all our spiritual, psychological, and physical strength to continue our lives and our struggle for the freedom of our people. We have no right to live as if there was no war,” said the Hierarch.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav addressed our brothers and sisters in the world and reminded us that the need to heal war wounds, feed the hungry, and welcome refugees is not reducing but instead increasing. “Today, I would like to thank all those people of goodwill from all over the world who help in overcoming the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, healing the wounds of this war… Last year we fed many people and prepared over 100 thousand food packages through the Wise Cause solidarity network alone. I am grateful to all our benefactors, but I ask you: do not forget and do not reduce your prayer, work, and sacrifice because, unfortunately, the war drags on,” the Primate emphasized.

He also said that fasting and prayer are the power that leads us forward. “Every day of the week, one of our dioceses or exarchates takes on the duty of fasting and prayer. Therefore, do not abandon this spiritual struggle, this spiritual feat for the victory over evil,” the Patriarch urged.
