“Please pray for us amidst these difficult moments”: Father Oleksandr Bilskyi from Beryslav
UGCC priest Oleksandr Bilsky calls for an intensified prayer for the city of Beryslav in Kherson region. For a week, enemy troops have been ruthlessly shelling the city. Each raid has horrible consequences — people die.
He wrote about this on his Facebook page on October 5.
“Today, we are faced with yet another grievous consequence: the hospital in our city, where I serve as a medical chaplain, has been destroyed,” said Fr. Oleksandr. “Our parish has also suffered: church property has been damaged, church windows shattered, putty crumbled, and our volunteer kitchen and dining room were damaged. All the windows were knocked out, along with the frames in the parish apartment. Last week, three of our parishioners lost their lives.”
The city of Beryslav is under constant shelling. The enemy is destroying houses, ruining property, and taking human lives. The priest urges every parish community to pray to the Lord for the lives of the city’s residents, for all the wounded and doctors who save lives. Fr. Oleksandr asks the residents of the city who remain in Beryslav to evacuate to safe places: “All the people who are still in Beryslav, I ask, beg and urge: please move to safe places while there is a possibility of evacuation, save your own lives and the lives of your relatives, because this is the most valuable thing. Your loved ones need you alive. We all need you alive! Ukraine needs you alive!”
