Prayer for children killed in the Russian-Ukrainian war in Ivano-Frankivsk
On Wednesday, May 31, a memorial prayer service was held at the Archdiocesan and Metropolitan Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ to honor the memory of all the children who were killed in the Russian-Ukrainian war.
The Ivano-Frankivsk City Council’s Service for Children initiated the prayer event.
The memorial event was attended by children receiving support from the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council’s Service for Children, the St. Nicholas Town of Mercy, and the Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation.
A memorial service was held in the cathedral for the souls of the innocent children killed by the brutal war (with a total of 501 children), led by the shrine’s priest, Fr. Ivan Hnatiuk.
At the end of the service, Fr. Ivan Hnatiuk addressed the congregation, emphasizing the importance of every Christian remembering in prayer those children who have gone to the arms of their Heavenly Father.
Afterward, everyone went to Sheptytsky Square, where they lit candles next to the dome of the Blessed Virgin Mary, prayed together, and paid tribute to the deceased children.
