Sister Lukia in Orikhiv: Bringing Hope and Relief to Those in Waiting
Sister Lukia Murashko, the superior of the Basilian Sisters Monastery in Zaporizhzhia, led a volunteer mission to the frontline town of Orikhiv in the Zaporizhzhia region. She was joined by Italian volunteers from the organization Frontier of Peace and Fr. Ihor Boyko, rector of the Lviv Theological Seminary of the Holy Spirit.

Zhyve Television reported on the visit.
The volunteers delivered food and hygiene supplies to the residents of Orikhiv.
Speaking about the ministry in the near-frontline town, Sister Lukia noted:“There are people who simply cannot flee, so they receive help from time to time.”
She emphasized that “it’s not just about bringing supplies—what matters just as much is that these people know they are not forgotten. This ministry is vital: supporting one another, staying united—that’s the only way to survive this horror.”
She also explained that the volunteers primarily help the military, because “they are on the front line, and we are alive because of them.”
Nicola Gini, a volunteer with Frontier of Peace, added: “We know that the people of Ukraine have been suffering for many years—since 2014, and especially over the last three. People are hoping for justice—the right to live freely in their own country. My conviction is what I see in the eyes, hear in the voices, and read in the stories of people who share their experiences with us.”
He continued: “Our main goal is to stay close to the people and to bring their voices back to Italy. We are seeking the truth—the facts that need to be shared with those who struggle to understand the reality of Ukraine from afar.”
The locals welcomed the guests warmly and expressed deep gratitude. Natalia Klein, a teacher at Orikhiv’s Suzirya Gymnasium, shared: “I dream of returning to Orikhiv, of teaching again. I long for the war to end, for our school to be rebuilt—for life and children’s laughter to return to our city.”
