Sister Servants elected a new Superior General for the Ukrainian province of the Compassion of the Mother of God
On January 27, 2023, participants of the IX Provincial Chapter of the Sister Servants of Mary Immaculate chose a new Provincial Superior for the Province of the Compassion of the Mother of God in Ukraine, for a 5 year term: Sr. Khrystofora Bushtyn. Provincial councillors were also chosen: Sr. Bernadette Jaroslavtsev, first councillor and Vice-Provincial, Sr. Elizabeth Prots’ Sr. Thaddea Klantsa, and Sr. Yaroslava Il’kiv.
Sincere felicitations to the newly elected Provincial Superior and the Provincial Councillors. We wish them the necessary gifts to fulfill their service for the greater glory of God, honour to the Immaculate Virgin Mary and development of the Province of the Compassion of the Mother of God in Ukraine!
Biography
Sister Khrystofora Bushtyn was born on February 4th 1976 in the Village of Nyzhnie Vysotske, Region of Turkivs’ke, Lviv Province.
In 1991 she completed high school. From 1991–1993 she studied at the Specialist School, Drohobych Pedagogical Institute.
On July 1st, 1993, she entered the Congregation of the Sister Servants.
On August 14th 1996 she took her initial vows; her perpetual vows on August 27th 2001.
In 2003 she completed the Catechetical-pedagogical Institute at UCU with a Masters in Religious Studies.
In 2004–2009 she studied at the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome, achieving a Licentiate in Pedagogy specializing in “school pedagogy and professional education”.
Monastic Ministry:
1996-2004—ministry in a Kyiv mission community
1999-2000—director of the secretariat for the office of the UGCC for government relations.
2001-2004—Superior of the community House of St Sophia in Kyiv.
2001-2004—Head of the Catechetical Commission of the Kyiv-Vyzhorod exarchate.
2009-2010—Ministry in the community House of the Immaculate Conception in Kolomyia; Head of the Kolomyia-Chernivtsi eparchial school commission; instructor at the Cantor Catechetical College.
2010-2012—worked at the Faculty of Social Pedagogy at UCU, responsible for the Provincial graduate students.
2012-2020—Head of the UGCC Education Commission, Lviv-Kyiv.
2013-2018—Provincial Councillor
2013-2014—responsible for the girls at the group home “House of Hope”.
From 2014—Superior of St Sophia House, Kyiv.
From 2020—Principal and organizer of the first Catholic school in Kyiv.
Fluent in Italian, English and Polish.
