Sisters of St. Joseph Renew Their Vows and Consecrate Monastery in the Archeparchy of Curitiba
At St. Joseph’s Parish in Dorizon (Mallet Municipality, Brazil), a renewal of the monastic vows of the Sisters of St. Joseph, the blessing of the monastery, and the official canonical consecration of the sisters for service in the local parish of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church took place.
This was reported by the press service of the Archeparchy of St. John the Baptist in Curitiba.
On December 26, the celebrations began in the parish church with the Divine Liturgy, celebrated by the Archbishop and Metropolitan of Curitiba, His Eminence Volodymyr Kovbych. He was concelebrated with local priests, and the liturgical chanting was performed by the Sisters of St. Joseph. During the service, Sr. Daniele renewed her temporary vows, and the other sisters renewed their evangelical vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience.
In his homily, Archbishop Volodymyr referred to the patron saint of the parish and the congregation, St. Joseph, emphasizing the vocation of consecrated persons to be defenders of life in all its stages.
After the Liturgy, a procession took place to the monastery building, where the bishop performed the rite of blessing the chapel and the entire building, anointing the altar and the building with holy oil and sprinkling them with holy water.
Accordingly, on January 1, 2026, the parish celebrated the official canonical consecration of the Sisters of St. Joseph for service in Dorizon. Before the start of the Divine Liturgy, the parish community solemnly welcomed Bishop Volodymyr Kovbych, Provincial Superior of the Congregation Sr. Marta Anatolia Marinkhak, and the sisters who are beginning their mission in the community.
During the service, the chancellor of the metropolia read the metropolitan’s decree on the official establishment of the Sisters of St. Joseph in the parish of St. Joseph in Dorizon. A letter from the Superior General of the Congregation, Sr. Markiana Vasylychen, was also read, in which she expressed her gratitude and support for the new mission.
In his speech, Metropolitan Volodymyr thanked the sisters for their commitment to service and noted that their presence would contribute to the spiritual and pastoral growth of the parish community. He related this event to the celebration of World Peace Day and emphasized the importance of communal monastic life as a witness to the Gospel in the modern world.
