The UGCC Jubilee in Rome: What’s Planned?
On June 28–29, 2025, the Jubilee Pilgrimage of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) to the tomb of St. Peter the Apostle will take place in Rome. The faithful of the UGCC will have the opportunity to pass through the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica and receive a plenary indulgence. The organizing committee of the Jubilee Year has published the official pilgrimage program.
“I invite all our faithful who are able to participate in this pilgrimage. Prepare yourselves spiritually through the Word, prayer, and fasting. A special highlight of this event is the privilege of passing through the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica and receiving a plenary indulgence. Even the Vatican must see that together we are numerous and cannot be defeated. We are the largest Eastern Catholic Church—a global Church that unites a multi-million-strong Ukrainian community around the world. I extend this invitation to all our faithful: come and see,” said His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Father and Head of the UGCC, addressing the faithful.

Divine Liturgy at St. Peter’s Basilica
- 11:00 a.m. — Gathering of pilgrims at the entrance to the “Pilgrim Way” (Piazza Pia, Rome), where a joint procession to the Holy Door will begin.
- 1:00 p.m. — Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at St. Peter’s Basilica, presided over by His Beatitude Sviatoslav in concelebration with all the bishops of the Synod of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
Concert: “Voice of Ukraine”
- 8:00 p.m. — Performance by the Lviv National Academic Choir Dudaryk at the Roman parish of St. Joachino (Via Pompeo Magno, 25, Rome).
June 29, 2025
- 10:00 a.m. — Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the Ukrainian Cathedral of St. Sophia (Via di Boccea, 478, Rome).
- Following the Liturgy — A concert by the National Academic Choir Voice of Ukraine.
