In a traditional address on the 104th week of Russia’s large-scale war against Ukraine, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, thanked all journalists who are fighting on the information front.

“I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the journalists who are fighting on the information front in different countries to spread the truth about our pain. We see that, unfortunately, the news of Ukraine’s suffering disappears from the world press headlines. The world is forgetting about Ukraine,” said the Primate.

He especially recognized Ukrainian journalists for their work: “Just as our soldiers are fighting for the freedom and existence of their homeland at the front, so are they defending the right to freedom of speech in Ukraine. It is well known that freedom of conscience, religion, and speech are the fundamental features of a free, democratic state.”

Today, the Ukrainian leader recalled, the words of the illustrious Churchill echo in the hearts of Ukrainians when it comes to the value of culture, the highest values for which the best sons and daughters of Ukraine are ready to give their lives.

The Primate also thanked Ukrainian journalists for cooperating with the UGCC over the years: “We pray and support honest journalists, and we encourage them not to be afraid to speak the truth. When we do good and tell the truth, we are powerful as professionals, a nation, and a people.”

His Beatitude Sviatoslav reminded that Russia is once again attacking Ukraine on the information front, denying to the whole world the right to exist of our state, which has a thousand-year history and is much older than the Russian Empire.
