Two UGCC parishes in Prague and Pardubice, Czech Republic, raised 784,000 UAH to support the prosthetics and rehabilitation of Ukrainian soldier Yevhen Skrypenchuk, who lost his leg during a combat mission. The funds for the treatment were donated by Fr. Makariy Dutka, hieromonk of the Holy Dormition Univ Lavra of the Studite Statute of the UGCC, as part of the Birds of Victory charity project.

This was reported by Fr. Makariy on his Facebook page.

According to Fr. Makariy, the parish communities of the UGCC in Prague and Pardubice, under the leadership of rectors Fr. Ivan Barbulyak and Fr. Marian Kurylo, had been donating funds after Sunday services for two months. The fundraising was joined by children who sold cakes and drawings every Sunday.

“They raised 784,000 hryvnias for a soldier’s prosthetics, of which we allocated 500,000 toward prosthetics as part of the Birds of Victory project,” the hieromonk explained,” said the hieromonk.

Yevhen Skrypynchuk was wounded while performing a combat mission in Chasovyi Yar. As a result of the explosion, he lost his leg. He underwent treatment and rehabilitation in several cities, and in December 2024, thanks to benefactors, Yevhen received a prosthesis at the Supehumans Lviv Center for Prosthetics and Rehabilitation.

Before the full-scale invasion, Yevhen worked as a ballroom dance teacher. From the early days of the war, he voluntarily joined Ukraine’s defense forces, despite lacking a formal military background. Today, as a junior lieutenant, he takes pride in his role in the fight for freedom.
